ABOUT ME

AAAM Me

I'm a retired Automotive worker for 29 yrs, born Sept 4, 54. Watching my dad, George Griffin, make decoys in the 60s, chopping and sawing out telephone poles, I must have caught the bug. At age 12 made my first miniature decoy, 3 in. long; in public school made a bluebill for a project. A few more here and there; in high school, another bluebill in shop class was stolen from the trophy case.

More About Me

Hobbies: hunting, fishing, racing homing pigeons, and most of all carving duck decoys. We go to our cottage, camp in Ompah, Ont., where we have so many great memories of hunting deer and ducks. Fishing is the best in the World; hundreds of lakes within half to a 1 hour from our door, does not get any better than that. We get a lot of the Ompah flu AH AH AH.

Retired hunting decoys

A retired pair of Hooded Mergansers carved in 1994 with my son Daniel, his first yr to hunt ducks with a licence. This rig of decoys was called the Basswood Rig. In 2025 made 60 decoys for Daniel, and I called them the Griffin Rig.
